‘Hooria’ translates as a splendid companion of paradise in Urdu, and is what THF wants the world to identify these/all young girls with.
The Hooria Foundation (THF) is a non-profit organisation based in New Delhi that was pioneered for the welfare and development of female children in rural parts of India.
At THF, we endeavor to assist young girls in becoming independent by helping them realize their self-worth, interests and talent, as well as providing financial aid. We have a team of professional psychologists that regularly conduct free counseling sessions in collaboration with schools and other non-profit organization to help shape the thought processes and reasoning ability of these young minds.
WHAT WE DO
THF works with schools, families and communities in rural parts of India to protect and promote the overall well-being of a girl child. The essence of our work lies with free counselling sessions provided by our team of professional psychologists.
The counselling sessions include girl empowerment workshops, assertiveness training and therapies for the specific needs catering to each child. The initial “getting to know” sessions allow us to understand each girl and offer the necessary help. These sessions fill the missing link between what the girls need to know about their rights and wellbeing. There are various forms of interaction workshops like storytelling, discussions and games, which help the little Hooria’s to open up and be comfortable with the counsellor.
The core agenda is to understand each little Hooria and create an environment that fosters their overall development. It shall inspire the girls to find, value and speak about their true selves. We open doors and help the girls to overcoming fears about themselves and their gender. We value a true self and believe in providing the girls a strong foundation for them to enjoy their being.

THF embarked it’s journey in collaboration with Tika Ram Girls Senior Secondary School, Sonepat in August 2014.
Our team of psychologists held workshops for young girls from Grade 6 to Grade 9 focusing on creating an environment that fosters their overall development. It inspired the girls to find, value and speak about their true selves.
We have had over 72 workshops since our first workshop in the year 2014.
WHY WE DO
A large percentage of young girls in rural India have limited access to overall growth. This is mainly due to lack of awareness and the traditional mindset in the rural milieu. THF helps young girls identify their inherent aptitude and augment their interpersonal skills. We believe in providing courage to the young girls and giving them a purpose in their lives. Purpose to live and to live freely which inspires many more young minds to explore and consume what the world has to offer.
It is an initiative that will grow through each one of you. Whether through THF or within your own individual limitations, please go out and help the little girl around you.
Role of Family
The family has the primary responsibility for the nurturing and protection of children and that children, for the full and harmonious development of their personality, should grow up in a family environment and in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding. THF aims to provide that family to young girls with non-supporting parents and to girls who are orphans.
We provide the natural environment for the growth and well-being for all our little Hooria’s. We recognise the fact that empowerment to these young Hooria’s is the core factor towards family empowerment.
HOW WE DO
We conduct workshops, assertiveness training, life skill sessions, and individual and group therapies to motivate girls to improve themselves. This is done through interactive activities, like – storytelling, discussions, and games. This further builds a healthy environment to foster their development.
Look around! If you see any need for our services in areas around you, please contact us in locating the need and helping young girls around you. Each life is invaluable.
